YB/T 6493-2026: the graphene heating film standard, explained

YB/T 6493-2026 is the Chinese industry standard for graphene flexible electric heating film. It was published on 2026-04-16 and takes effect on 2026-11-01. XGRAPHENE (operated by XIHE) is one of the drafting units. Drafting participation is not a product certificate.

Scope and key definitions

The standard sets out how graphene flexible heating film is described, measured and compared. It covers the areas below. Public summaries are what we can restate here; the full text is published by the standard body.

  • Thermal radiation efficiency measurement
  • Far-infrared response characterisation
  • Temperature uniformity evaluation
  • Ageing and lifecycle assessment
  • Safety and reliability methods

Clause 3.8 defines electric-to-thermal-radiation conversion efficiency — the share of electrical input that leaves the surface as thermal radiation. This is the quantity our 68% figure is reported against.

Our role

XGRAPHENE (operated by XIHE) is one of the drafting units of YB/T 6493-2026. The first-named drafter is Fu Wenxing. Taking part in drafting means contributing engineering input to how the category is defined and measured. It does not mean we set the standard alone, and it does not make our products automatically better than anyone else's.

This is not a certification.

No product on this site holds a certificate to YB/T 6493-2026, and we do not claim that any product meets it. If you need evidence for a specific part, ask for the test report and the conditions it was measured under.

What it means for buyers

Five questions worth asking any supplier who mentions a standard:

  1. Which test method was used, and what is the report number?
  2. Was the measurement taken on a film sample, a module, or a finished product?
  3. Under what conditions — input power, ambient temperature, mounting, and backing?
  4. Does the supplier publish the limitations of the result, or only the headline figure?
  5. Is the supplier claiming a certificate, or describing drafting participation?

How our film data relates to the standard

Our film-level figures come from report (2022)WT-HW-00529, issued by the National Infrared & Industrial Electrothermal Products Quality Inspection & Testing Center (Wuhan), using methods JG/T 286-2010 and GB/T 7287-2008.

FigureValueBasis
Normal total emissivity ≥ 0.88 Film sample, report (2022)WT-HW-00529
Electric-to-radiant conversion efficiency 68% (double-sided) Film sample, report (2022)WT-HW-00529

Two points of honesty about that report. It dates from 2022, before the standard existed, so it was not produced under YB/T 6493-2026. And it was measured on a film sample, not on a panel, module or finished product. Both facts are part of the claim, not a footnote to it.

Questions

What is YB/T 6493-2026?

It is the Chinese industry standard for graphene flexible electric heating film. It was published on 2026-04-16 and takes effect on 2026-11-01. It sets out shared definitions and test logic for the category.

Does the standard mean all graphene heating film performs the same?

No. A standard creates a comparison framework. It does not make two films equivalent, and it does not replace product-level testing or integration review.

What does being a drafting unit mean?

It means XGRAPHENE (operated by XIHE) took part in writing the definitions and test logic. It is not a product certificate, and it does not mean any product is approved to the standard.

Was our test report produced under this standard?

No. Report (2022)WT-HW-00529 predates the standard and was produced using JG/T 286-2010 and GB/T 7287-2008. We state the method with every figure so the basis is clear.
